Video Samples

The IUP-TV/The Swoop Internship is a non-profit program sponsored by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Communications Media Department located in Indiana, PA. This program allows students to create original media projects that tell stories highlighting the history, events, and organizations of the university and community. The materials found below are a product of faculty, interns, and student participants coming together and putting their best back into their community. As an intern for The Swoop, I gained an even stronger background in video, audio, graphics, photography, and general promotion by being allowed the opportunity to work with such assets in as professional an environment as possible. The IUP Communications Media Internship gave me a chance to work with professional organizations, as well as the university itself to give me a more diverse and sophisticated group of projects to showcase in future opportunities.

IRMC x IUP Podcast:
Rural Health Pulse

The first assignment I was given as an intern was to help edit and create graphics for the podcasts that IUP’s Communication Media Department produces in association with the Indiana Regional Medical Center, or IRMC. For this episode in particular, I created all of the on screen graphics, as well as contributed to the overall editing of the video. Since I was tasked with this project, I have been given the lead editing job on three additional podcasts, as well as helped coordinate and schedule five more as a Graduate Assistant.

Vocational Education
Teacher Certification

This was a project that ran over the entire course of my internship, as we finished them just days before the internship ended. The IUP Career Center tasked us with creating informational videos on how to properly fill out their forms to become certified as a teacher for their school. I created this module from scratch including syncing the audio properly and adding movement effects to the images. This is the first of the five modules we created to overview the entire application process. These videos have been shown to new applicants and has helped greatly in filling out their applications.

Blairsville Area
Underground Railroad History Center

Our team was tasked with creating a promotional video for the Underground Railroad History Center in Blairsville, PA. My primary role for this project was to create a fresh logo that you see featured in the video for the first time. Aside from that I helped with the script writing for the narration as well as creating on screen graphics for the final video. This project has been posted on the Blairsville Underground Railroad History Center’s website, as a part of their conductors exhibit.

Weavers Perfect Memory

The former Vice President of Student Affairs at IUP and her husband, Rhonda and Alan Luckey created a tool that makes it easier for a weaver to keep their place when weaving on a loom. Our team was tasked with creating a promotional video to spread the word around about this fantastic product. My role in the field for this project was just as important as my role behind the computer, as I captured many of the photos used in the video. Behind the scenes I helped write the script, sync the audio, and edit together the final cut.

Coalport Area Coal Museum

We started our work on this video on June 13th when we could go to Coalport and get some starting footage, as well as talk to the Museum Curator, Richard, about what type of video he wanted for his museum. I was a part of the team that went out to Coalport twice to record footage for this video and scan images that weren’t digitized yet. I also contributed to editing photos, audio, and the final cut of this video. This project has been posted on their official YouTube page, as well as being linked to their museum’s website.
